How Ordering a Made-to-Measure Runner Works

Made-to-measure sounds like it ought to be complicated. It is not. Here is exactly what happens.

1. Choose your carpet

Pick a range and a colour. Colour does not change the price — every colour in a range costs the same, so choose the one you like rather than the one that seems cheaper.

2. Choose your length

Runners run from 7 metres to 20 metres in one-metre steps. The price updates as you choose. There is no discount for going longer and no penalty either: we price by the metre, straight down the line, so a 14m runner costs exactly twice a 7m one.

Not sure what length you need? Our measuring guide walks through it. Round up.

3. Choose your edging

Bare, wool whipping (£8 per metre per side) or binding tape (£18 per metre per side). If you choose binding, a grid of 33 tape colours appears and you pick the exact one. The edging guide explains the difference.

4. We make it

Your carpet is cut from a four-metre roll to your length, the edges are finished by hand, and it is checked before it goes out. Allow 2–3 weeks. That is real making time, not a warehouse pick.

5. It arrives

Rolled and wrapped, by courier. UK delivery is free over £250. Below that, standard delivery is £6.99.

When it arrives, unroll it and check the length and the edging against what you ordered before anything is cut or fitted. If something is not right, tell us straight away and we will sort it — that conversation is far easier before a fitter has been at it.

What we need from you

Nothing beyond the choices on the page. Your length and edging travel with the order in plain English, so the person making your runner reads exactly what you picked — including the tape colour by name.

Fitting

We may be able to fit for you if you are in Somerset or Dorset — call 01935 412860 to ask. Elsewhere, any competent carpet fitter can lay a runner, and many will do it in an hour or two.

If you want to be sure first

Three samples for £5.99, posted free, each edged with the tape you choose. It is the cheapest way to avoid an expensive change of mind.
