Our Story

Stair Runners UK is a small British workshop. We make stair runners, hall runners and landing carpets to order — your carpet, your length, your edging — and we have done it long enough to know that the details are what people remember.

Nothing here is bought in ready-made

Carpet arrives with us as a four-metre-wide roll. We cut it down, finish the edges by hand, and send it out made to the size you asked for. That is the whole business. It is also why we can say yes to a 13-metre staircase, or a runner edged in duck-egg linen, when a warehouse selling pre-cut rolls has to say no.

The edge is the bit people notice

A cut edge of carpet looks like a cut edge of carpet. An edged one looks finished. You can have wool whipping, where yarn is stitched over the edge, or binding tape sewn along it — and we keep 33 tape colours across four designs, so the runner suits the hallway rather than the other way round.

Our binding team has decades of experience between them. Every runner goes out having been looked at by someone, not just scanned and shipped.

See it before you commit

Carpet is difficult to judge on a screen. Colours shift under hall lighting, and texture does not photograph honestly. So we will send you up to three samples for £5.99, delivered free, with the binding tape of your choice stitched on — the real thing, in your own light, before you spend a few hundred pounds.

If you are stuck, ring us

We would much rather spend ten minutes on the phone getting your measurements right than remake a runner that was cut to the wrong length. Call 01935 412860, Monday to Friday, and you will get someone who knows the products.
