Sizes and measuring
Can I order a custom size?
Yes, and you do it yourself on the product page. Runners are made to any length from 7m to 20m in one-metre steps; landing carpets from 1m to 5m. The price updates as you choose. For anything outside those sizes, ring us.
How wide are the runners?
60cm as standard, which suits most UK staircases. If your treads are under about 75cm wide, call us before ordering.
How do I work out the length I need?
Add one tread plus one riser, multiply by the number of steps, then add for landings, winders and a 20–30cm margin. Full guide here. Always round up.
Edging
What are my edging options?
Bare, wool whipping at £8 per metre per side, or binding tape at £18 per metre per side. The edging guide explains the difference.
How many tape colours are there?
33, across cotton herringbone, cotton standard, faux cotton and linen. You pick the exact one on the product page when you choose binding.
Can I have just one side edged?
Yes — ring us and we will price it. The website prices both sides because that is what nearly everyone wants.
Samples
Can I see the carpet first?
Yes. Up to three samples for £5.99, delivered free anywhere in the UK.
Do samples come edged?
Yes — tell us which binding tape you want and we sew it on, so you can judge the whole combination.
Delivery
How long will my order take?
Allow 2–3 weeks. Everything is made to order, not picked off a shelf.
What does delivery cost?
Free on UK orders over £250. Below that, standard delivery is £6.99.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes. Shipping is calculated at checkout. Free UK sample delivery does not extend overseas.
Fitting and care
Do you fit?
Possibly, if you are in Somerset or Dorset — call to ask. Elsewhere, any competent carpet fitter can lay a runner.
What is the carpet made of?
Our flatweave and wool-look ranges are a blend of 10% wool and 90% polypropylene. The wool gives warmth and handle; the polypropylene is what makes it stand up to a staircase. The exact composition is on every product page.
Problems
What if it arrives wrong?
Unroll it and check the length and edging before anything is cut or fitted, then call us the same day. It is far easier to put right before a fitter has started.
